The Texas Theatre rolls out a variety of entertainment for any night of the week: independent and blockbuster movies, plays, and live music. The theatre has a colorful history, including a brush with Lee Harvey Oswald, and was closed down for roughly 15 years. Only recently re-opened in 2010, the theatre retains some historic details as well as an eclectic vibe. The bar opens around 5 p.m. and makes a nice space to hang out before a show. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own vinyl records for the turntable. If you go to watch a movie, two screens show independent films that recently ended their larger runs: Tuesdays are B-movies, while Fridays offer themed double-features. Other events include open mic and special film talks. Check the website for more information!
